The long story.
The company believed that by equipping its IBOs with a tool to help them share Amway’s vision, they would be more successful in helping prospects begin to see what their futures – and income – could look like. While the company already had tools and resources available, such as printed materials and desktop presentations, it became clear that it was time to employ mobile technology. That’s when Amway partnered with Maestro to design and develop the Income Simulator, which later became part of an even more robust product, the Amway Credibility App.
Maestro worked closely with Amway to understand the company’s business objectives, details of its brand standards and the creative tone. This process of exploration and discovery made it possible to plan and create an app to meet a variety of needs and address several challenges, including:
- Creating a platform enabling IBOs to easily explain the complex bonus and compensation system provided by Amway.
- Strengthening the Amway brand with an application that puts it at the forefront of IBO presentations.
- Providing a technology solution that could be deployed on a range of devices and platforms, including Windows-based or Mac OSX-based computers, iPhones and iPads, and Android smartphones and tablet PCs.
First, the Amway Income Simulator was launched. A powerful tool on its own, the Income Simulator was developed to educate prospects and new IBOs on the key earning opportunities available through the Amway compensation plan.
The app was a great success for Amway. According to Lead Trade Development Specialist for Amway North America, Dan Groen, “The Income Simulator tool has changed the way Amway Independent Business Owners present the business opportunity to their prospects. The adoption of the app and the excitement it created throughout business were so great that Amway soon partnered with Maestro to design and develop an even more robust app – one that would not only include the Income Simulator, but also additional functionality to further equip Amway’s IBOs.
The two companies got to work on an app that would help IBOs answer prospect questions not only about income potential, but also about the Amway story, the business opportunity, the products and the resources that exist to support the business model.
The finished product
The Amway Credibility App empowers IBOs to beautifully, effectively and concisely share the business opportunity with prospects. IBOs can use the app with prospects to show them the captivating “Business Opportunity” video, share the Amway story or even get them registered immediately as new IBOs – all from the home screen.
Several pop-up options are available on the home screen that serve as conversation starters about Amway’s products, the company’s history, advertising and sponsor support, and corporate partnerships. Also available to the IBO is the “XS Pop-Up”, which provides key talking points to refer to at any time about the brand and its products. All of these tools strengthen the company’s credibility and integrity.
Other sections of the app provide great detail about how to build a balanced Amway business and the income and bonuses that one can earn in return. This includes videos, information about recruiting, electronic brochures and, of course, the Income Simulator.
“This app answers the question of how to make money in an Amway business,” said Groen. “With it, an IBO can clearly show to a prospect what they need to do to reach their earning goals. This has helped simplify the earning process for potential IBOs and provided them with the confidence they need to get their own business started today.”
The app’s user interface is designed to accommodate the screen size of each individual device. So regardless of whether a user views the app on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop, it is accurate, attractive and functional. The Maestro touch on this project means users can use the app anytime, anyplace on just about any device.

And as one of Amway’s IBO leaders put it, “The cool factor is the fact that it is an App. Using a smart phone or tablet isn’t even the future anymore, it is the present. To not have this as an App would be irresponsible.”
